Wellington is making quite an impression
It has been a pleasure to have our new wellbeing coordinator officially recognised here at school. 7-month old labrador ‘Wellington’ helps staff and students to feel good, engage with each other and share positively.
Wellington is owned by Mrs Carol and Mr Will Spark, a library school officer and library teacher respectively. The couple has dedicated their time to training Wellington, ensuring he is in peak condition to spread happiness. Often in the mornings, he can be found in the library playing, interacting and training with the early students before school. The students are always very excited to see him and during lunchtime especially it is often so busy you can barely see the library.
Wellington has helped students who lack confidence to engage in activities and find their voice. Students who are normally shy are actively engaging in conversation. Their interactions with Wellington have improved their confidence speaking in front of their peers. The benefits of a wellbeing dog are not limited to the students and Wellington has been there to help staff feel better as well.Â
