CLONTARF ACADEMY

Statement of Purpose

The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the discipline, life skills and self-esteem of young Aboriginal men and by so doing to equip them to participate more meaningfully in society. The programs are delivered through a network of academies established in partnership with local schools. Full-time and locally based Clontarf staff, mentor and counsel students on a range of behavioural and lifestyle issues while the school caters for their educational needs.

What the Clontarf Foundation will bring to the program:

  • Staff with experience in working with Aboriginal youth
  • Professional skills – strategic plan sets out the skills and abilities that are required for staff
  • Strategic and project plans that demonstrate where we impact on students
  • Resources for the football program which impact on the school

Outcomes:

  • Attendance – Increased participation in the school’s educational program
  • Punctuality – Increased access to support structures to improve punctuality
  • Fitness programs for the students
  • Motivated students
  • Positive relationships with the students, teachers and the extended families of the students

  • Non-indigenous students will benefit from access to the coaching program prior to whole school football fixtures and events
