Mathematics
All students in Years 7-10 study the West Australian Curriculum in Mathematics. During the first years in high school, your child will study Measurement and Geometry, Number and Algebra, Statistics and Probability.
The Year 7 group will all follow the same course outline with modifications to the learning program depending on the student’s ability and aptitude. In Years 8, 9 and 10, the curriculum specialises into Academic Rigour Classes (ARC), Transition ARC and Vocational classes to cater for differences in aptitude and career choice. These classes create pathways to prepare students for the variety of senior school courses available to them. All students will have access to the Mathletics program which will be made available at school and at home.
SENIOR SCHOOL
Broome Senior High School offer five courses in Senior School Mathematics. There are three Australian Tertiary Academic Rank (ATAR) Courses: Mathematics Applications, Mathematics Methods and Mathematics Specialist; one GENERAL Studies course: Mathematics Essentials; and a FOUNDATION Mathematics course for those students who are yet to reach the numeracy level required in the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA). These courses will continue into Year 12.
