Jamoordoo

Flowering and Fruiting:
Barrgana to Laja between March and December

This member of the large Grevillea family is widespread across the north of the NT and in the Kimberley. It mainly grows in sandy, gravelly open country such as spinifex plains and on sandstone ridges.  It can be found throughout the Dampier Peninsula and nowadays in many Broome backyards.

Named for its delicate silvery foliage, the jamoordoo also has beautiful orange/red flowers which  are popular with birds, and it makes a great garden shrub that attracts native bird species.  It grows to about 4 m.

Because of its pliable, slender foliage, Jamoordoo was often used by local people to construct windbreaks and shelters.
